What To Bring
As you plan your upcoming admission to Valley View Recovery Center, here are some helpful tips on what to bring during your residence:
Up to 7 days of clothing (limit 1 suitcase). Laundry facilities, including supplies, are available for resident use. Irons and ironing boards are accessible.
Maximum 3 pairs of shoes. Flat-soled or tennis shoes are recommended. Shoes and/or slippers must be worn outside your room. Bare feet are not permitted.
Lightweight jackets and sweaters are recommended for evening wear year-round – a heavier coat or jacket is recommended for winter months.
Electric razor/shaver is recommended. Other shavers will be kept at the tech station until needed and then must be returned immediately after use.
Insurance card.
30 day supply of current medications in their original containers and a detailed list of all medications you are currently taking. Include the name of medication, the dosage and frequency administered, name of physician who prescribed the medication, and the reason for the medication. Please note that you will be responsible for all medication costs — Rule 25 without medical assistance does not cover medications.
Appropriate reading materials. (books and magazines)
A small amount of cash and/or debit card.
If you smoke, bring up to 1 carton; You may place a weekly order from the local store.
Small amount of unopened nonperishable snacks.
What Not To Bring
When you are admitted to Valley View Recovery Center, a staff member will examine you and check your belongings. Please do not bring the following items:
Non-prescription medications, vitamins, herbs, or nutritional supplements. (Only bring a current supply of your prescribed medications when traveling to the facility for admission.)
Excessive or expensive jewelry
Any electronic equipment, including radios, iPods/MP3 players/CD players/tape recorders, tapes/CDs, any type of portable media players, laptops, audio/video equipment, TVs, or cameras.
Cell phones may be brought for travel and then safely stored upon admission until discharge.
Exercise equipment
Detergent or bleach
Straight razors, razor blades, pocketknives
Aerosol products, including deodorant and hairspray
Products containing alcohol (i.e., mouthwash, aftershave, facial toner, perfume, lotions, etc.)
Smokeless tobacco, cigars, pipes, or a rolling machine
Illegal substances or mood-altering drugs
Firearms and/or supplies
Dress Code
The goal of the dress code is to promote modesty and help residents stay focused on treatment goals.
Clothing deemed inappropriate will be safely stored until discharge.
Undergarments must be worn.
Undergarments are not to be visible.
Flat-soled or tennis shoes are recommended. Shoes must be worn outside your room.
T-shirts, hats, sweatpants, shirts, and other clothing that depict alcohol, drugs, sex, violence, and/or gambling are not permitted.
Sunglasses are not permitted indoors.
Medication & Assistance
Bring a 30 day supply of current medications in their original containers. It is important that you advise your Care Coordinator of all medications you are currently taking. Include the name of the medication, the dosage and frequency administered, as well as the name of the physician who prescribed the medication. Each resident’s medical provider will manage medication through Valley View Recovery Centers’ pharmacy supply. Please do not bring non-prescription medications, vitamins, herbs, or nutritional supplements. Please note that you will be responsible for all medication costs — Rule 25 without medical assistance does not cover medications.
A brief history and physical is required at the residential level of care within 30 days prior to treatment or after you arrive. We can arrange for these services which are billed to your insurance at usual and customary rates. Rule 25 without medical assistance does not cover medical appointments. You will be responsible for medical appointments and laboratory charges (urinalysis and blood work) not covered by insurance. Valley View Recovery Center will help you get covered by medical assistance, if you qualify, once you enter treatment.
Tobacco Use
For those who smoke, there is a designated area, outside only, where smoking is permitted. A rolling machine is provided for client use. Do not bring a rolling machine however clients may bring bagged tobacco and rolling tubes/papers.
Clients have weekly access to the store. Order forms are available for tobacco products and delivered weekly. E-Cigs, vapes, cigars, or pipes are not permitted at Valley View Recovery Center.
Telephones & Mail
Telephones in the lodging areas are activated during certain hours each day. Clients may call supportive loved ones while at the facility.

Clients are allowed 1 package per week of approved items. All mail and packages are opened at the front desk with staff.
Visitor Policies
The client will be able to pick a 1 hour time slot for approved visitors to attend.
Residents may have visitation on Saturdays, Sundays and designated holidays after they have met with their primary counselor and appropriate visitors have been authorized. Visitors are required to check in at the main reception desk upon arrival and must follow the guidelines for appropriate attire. No purses or bookbags are allowed. Adult visitors must provide a picture ID.
All packages will be checked at the front door. In order to ensure confidentiality, cameras and picture-taking are not permitted on the grounds of Valley View Recovery Center.
Visiting hours on Saturdays 2:45 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Sundays are from 1:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
