A support group can help you feel heard and understood. At Valley View Recovery Center, our support groups provide a helpful forum for connecting with others who are going through or have been through similar experiences. Our staff, resident volunteers, and peers are all here to help you make sense of your experience and continue on a path to healing. All support groups are optional. Here is a look at the different kinds of support we offer.

Recovery Support Groups

Support groups are mostly peer led. Sometimes a staff member or resident volunteer with experience and training are here in a peer led group to help you cope with adjusting to recovery emotionally and physically. Participants are encouraged to share experiences or simply gather information. Our disease-specific support groups touch on dealing with issues such as fatigue, isolation, and concerns about the future.

Religious and Spiritual Support Groups

Just like other support groups, these are optional. Some clients enjoy and thrive using religious or spiritual support groups such as bible studies or church. If a client has a different religious support group, that we don’t currently offer, they are able to start one — as we are open to all religions.

Parenting Support Groups

Parenting is one of the hardest and most important jobs anyone can do. Every stage along the way brings more questions and difficult choices. And still honest conversations about the challenges of parenting are rare, especially when a child or parent is struggling. That’s where support groups come in. Research shows that such support groups provide healthy parenting skills, a feeling of belonging, and an increased sense of empowerment.

Valley View Recovery Center encourages everyone to join whatever type of support group helps you be a healthier, happier person in recovery.
